Be Okay Knowing The First Draft of Anything You Do Won’t Be Great

Unless you’re Sylvester Stallone writing Rocky in 30 days.

But for the rest of us, this is one of the hard, but important pills we must swallow when beginning anything anew:

The first draft of a proposal. The rough cut of our promo video. The initial thumbnail.

More often than not, lots of not-so-great.

But that’s okay - if you expect it as an integral part of your process.

I tip my hat to writing sage Steven Pressfield in his War of Art for illuminating this truth.

As he shares in this essential book, even Ernest Hemingway knew the first draft of his work would be just okay.

It’s a freeing truth because it empowers us in our work to the next draft, and the next, and the next.

…Until you can write and produce your own Rocky.
